Part III: Borga and Bjarki’s family
Borga attended Laufás School, took Correspondence courses, attended Gimli High School for one year and received a B.A. from the University of Manitoba.
Bjarki attended Island School for grades one to eight, took grades nine and ten by correspondence and grade eleven at Arborg High School. His schooling was interrupted during World War II. He farmed with his father for five years. He entered the University of Manitoba in 1946, but was hospitalized with a severe case of poliomyelitis. The results of this illness were long-standing and his right leg was permanently damaged. However, he stressed the positive side of the ledger which was that he became intrigued with the study of medicine. He received his M.D. from the University of Manitoba in 1954. He was a much-loved and respected doctor, serving as physician and surgeon in Moosomin and Whitewood, Saskatchewan and in Neepawa, Manitoba.
Bjarki and Borga were active in community organizations such as the Associated Manitoba Festivals and the Holiday Festival of the Arts. Bjarki was a member of the Rotary Club and the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA). Bjarki loved his work and was enthusiastic about everything he did. He died on October 5, 1982.

Kristine Inga, B.A. (Hons.), M.Ed. –University of Manitoba, husband William (Bill) Perlmutter and chilldren David, Sara, and Signy. They reside in Winnipeg.
Gestur Owen, B.P.E. –University of Manitoba wife Lynne Erickson and children Kristinn, Helga, Nikolas, Ari. They resided in Arborg. Gestur was a popular teacher at Arborg Collegiate for fifteen years He died Oct. 5, 1994.
Thora Louise, B.Ed. –University of Manitoba, husband Pascal Delaquis and children Bernadette, Erik, Paul, Genevieve. They reside in Summerland, B.C.
Irene Alda, B.M.R. (O.T.) –University of Manitoba, husband James Marks and son Thomas They reside in Strathclair, Manitoba. Karl Douglas, house builder (Tapec Construction), wife Tracey Jakobson (nee Arnason), children Arni, Elise, William. They reside in Gimli.
Glen Eric, B.A.- University of Winnipeg, B.Phil. –University of Iceland, B.Ed. –Brandon. He and former partner Céline Nadeau had two children Eirika and Andra. They live in Nanaimo, B.C., while Glen lives in Matsuyama, Japan
Alma Lynn, B.M.R. (O.T.)- University of Manitoba, husband Mark McCaffrey and children Chad, Kieran, Dillon, Tristin, Kitchener. They reside in Ontario
Lorna Susan, B.A. (Hons.) –University of Manitoba, M.A., PhD. –Western; husband Gunnar Valdimarsson and children Kári and Benedikt. They reside in Winnipeg.
