Arnason, Frank & Marie | |||||
By Marie Arnason Frank was truly an avid sportsman. Many happy hours were spent hunting, fishing, golfing, and curling with his friends and family. He was very involved in bringing the first Icelandic horses to Manitoba. At the time of his death he was president of the Canadian Throughbred Horse Society. In honour of his work in that field, the C.T.H.S. sponsors a yearly stakes race at Assiniboia Downs: “The Frank Arnason Stakes”. Frank died from heart problems on August 17, 1987 at the age of 64. He died suddenly and much too soon. We have all missed him so very much, but he left us with such a zest for life, and a commitment to family and community that we have been able to be what I know he would have wanted us to be. I am very proud of our family and their heritage. Frank would be too.
