Part III: Gordon & Evelyn Gordon Helgi Thorvaldson and Evelyn Kristin Ganton were married in July 1960. They reside in Winnipeg, and have two children, Signy Kristin (b. Sept. 25, 1961) and Paul August (Apr. 25, 1965). Signy is married to Alan Poitras and they have three sons Matthew (1992), Kevin & Blake (twins, 1994). Paul is married to Brenda Selk. Gordon is retired from his position as a director for Air Canada. Evelyn has worked as an executive secretary and has done much volunteer work, particularly with Icelandic organizations. Paul is employed in Sales, and Signy is an Office Manager. The family is keenly interested in their cultural roots. Whether it be visiting Iceland or receiving visitors from Iceland, the Thorvaldson’s have sought to keep the cultural link between themselves and their shared heritage open. Evelyn has even authored a book entitled My Amma and Me, published in 1993. |
