Frederickson, Robert C.A.

I, Robert Curtis, was educated at the University of Manitoba where I received a B.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology. I married Angela Gorman in 1963 in Winnipeg and we had 3 children: Robert Murray (b. June 20, 1964), Karen Elizabeth (b. Sept. 30, 1965) and Vicki Jane (b. March 1, 1968).

After completing Post-graduate work in Neurophysiology, I joined Eli Lilly & Co. in Indianapolis and worked there for 12 years during which I was involved, among other things, in the development of the antidepressant Prozac. In 1984 I was recruited by Monsanto Co. to join a small group building a Health Care Division at the St. Louis, MO location of Monsanto.

By 1986 I was managing Research and Development groups in St. Louis, in Skokie, IL (G.D.Searle & Co.) and in Brussels, Belgium (Continental Pharma), all part of Monsanto Co.

In 1989 I was recruited as founding management of a start-up biotechnology company, Gliatech Inc, in Cleveland, OH where I served as Chief Technical Officer and Senior and Executive Vice President until the company went public in 1995.

Shortly thereafter I moved to Seattle, WA where I co-founded the company UltraImage Inc based on medical imaging technology at the University of Washington. I served as President and CEO of this company until the fall of 1999 when I negotiated an acquisition of UltraImage by another company in the Washington area.

I accepted a Board position with the newly merged company and established a new company, Discovery International Venture Catalysts Inc. in Victoria, B.C. where my family and I now reside.

I am now married to Anita M. Ruff and we have one daughter, Kristin Karli, who was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 13, 1991. Kristin just finished grade 3 at Glenlyon-Norfolk School in Victoria.
