Donate – Reasons to Give
Each year we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses to meet our mission and provide services in our community.
Did you know that the museum houses and cares for over 3,000 artifacts, photographs, paintings, books and periodicals that have been donated by individuals and families over the past 43 years?
With these donations comes a public trust that these items representing the culture and history of the area will be preserved and cared for according to internationally accepted museum standards.
Why is that so important?
“One of my Ammas came to New Iceland at the age of 4 and lived to 109. The stories she told her grandchildren of her life in Gimli were so different from anything we had ever experienced. At one point my Afi had tuberculosis and had to leave home for treatment. She was left with $5 in her pocket and nine children to feed while he was gone. But she survived and thrived, and so did our family and her stories.”
That’s why I give to the Museum.
Your memories and the stories that were told to you are just as important. Without the museum, who will tell these stories? With your help, we can do so much more. Together we can continue to build and maintain these bridges to the past.
How can you give?
Contact the museum to see how you might contribute or simply click on the donate now button at the top of your screen. Thank you for your ongoing support.
The museum could not run without it’s volunteers. If you have time or expertise that you are willing to share we would love to talk with you.
